Bernina Sewing Club
The March meeting of the new Bernina Club will be in our studios at 11 Henrietta Street, Cheltenham starting at 10:00 am and finishing at 1:00 pm on Wednesday 24 March 10.
Zips!!! Come along and learn the best techniques for that fine finish, enjoy a chat and share ideas in your Bernina club.
And for your diary the April meeting will be on Wednesday 21st April 10 when we will be looking at Freehand embroidery and using the BSR, more on that soon.
The fee to attend these meeting is £5.00 per meeting with free tea, coffee and biscuits provided!
All signed up members are welcome; if you are on our waiting list don't despair, we are looking at ways to manage the club for more members without losing the friendly atmosphere we all enjoy.

Wednesday 10th March 10 - 10:00 am to 01:00 pm
Refresher plus more sewing skills to include decorative and free hand work.
Bring your machine and accessories with the button hole foot, blind hem foot spare needles and bobbins. You will also need a zip and couple of buttons, some additional scraps of fabric, a free hand sewing foot and decorative threads. You will also be using a Twin Needle.
Price for this session is £15.00
Saturday 24th April 10- 10:00 am to 04:00 pm
This is an all day workshop on freehand embroidery and using the BSR and is tremendous value at £25.00
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided but there will be a lunchbreak so do bring along a snack to eat then.
Saturday the 13th March 10 - 10:00 am to 04:00 pm
Your overlocker can help you to manage difficult fabrics and achieve professional looking results on your sewing projects; this workshop is designed to get you on the way to those results.
Hints, tips, threading up, and basic skills are included.
You will be learning on your own machine so bring this, including accessories and your instruction book, with you. We will supply the fabrics
free of charge.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided but there will be a lunchbreak so do bring along a snack to eat then.
The price for the Basic Overlock workshop is £25
Saturday 27th March 10- 10:00 am to 01:30 pm
When you have attended the basic overlock workshop or are confident using your overlocker anyway you will get more from our advanced course which takes you through Sewing flat locks, decorative work, rolled hems and other techniques.
The price for the Advanced Overlock workshop is £30 (£25 if you attended our basic overlock course)
Five session course starts 15 April 10
This course will run on Thursday of each week for five weeks starting on the 15th April 10.
Subjects covered will include understanding and cutting patterns, textiles, seams and which type to use, overlocking and zips for all kinds of home tailoring.
On the first day the tutor will discuss with you, individually, how to develop your sewing skills through a personal project of your choice to be completed during the five week course.
You will then be guided through each stage whatever you have chosen to make - perhaps a smart jacket for yourself, something for the children or someone else.
You will learn on your own machine but to enhance or improve your work overlock and embroidery machines will be provided if needed for your project.
